Hydration

The Plaza Life Protocol

The importance of staying hydrated

Dehydration in seniors can jeopardize metabolic health, raise stress hormone levels, and speed up biological aging. It can also slow down metabolism, lead to inflammation, and contribute to several health problems, including disorders such as type 2 diabetes and heart disease.

Water

Seniors should drink at least two liters of water every day, so in all of our senior living communities, we make it easy for our residents to drink water throughout the day.

Medication mindfulness

In addition to the reduced thirst sensation that occurs in seniors, we encourage our residents to remember that some medications may cause dehydration.

Avoiding Sugar

Of course, water is best for hydration, so our residents at The Plaza can easily choose water over sugary drinks like soda and juice.
