Regional Director of Plant Maintenance - Full Time (Corporate)

The Plaza, a premier provider of superior senior care services, is seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Regional Director of Maintenance and Housekeeping to join the team. This pivotal role will oversee and coordinate plant repairs, preventive maintenance, and housekeeping operations across multiple assisted living locations. The following are essential functions of the job:

  • Develops and implements a strategic plan for the housekeeping and maintenance department in alignment with The Plaza's overall organizational goals.
  • Develops and maintains key performance indicators (KPIs) to provide consistency in cleanliness and the upkeep of the community, in an effort to create The Plaza standard for housekeeping and maintenance expectations.
  • Develops and assists in the execution of consistent community Preventive Maintenance Plans.
  • Coordinates and assists in vendor partnerships, including maintaining current vendor lists for all communities, ensuring budgeting goals, and working on capital improvement plans. Ensures that each vendor is current on their certificate of insurance.
  • Conducts regular routine checks/inspections of ALL communities for the following safety regulation completions: life safe systems and equipment; fire alarm system, fire sprinklers, emergency call system, fire extinguishers, generators, etc. in accordance with local fire codes and regulations.
  • Conducts frequent community walk-throughs with Directors to ensure safety, standards, and expectations are being met.
  • Ensures that the communities are all properly maintaining the necessary logs/requirements per state and federal regulations, including water temperature logs, fire extinguisher monthly checks, and so forth.
  • Ensures that all communities have necessary permits, licenses, and certificates up-to-date and maintained.
  • Participates in community's Safety Program and reviews Safety Committees' minutes quarterly, including ensuring that each community is holding quarterly fire drills, elopement drills, and emergency weather reviews.
  • Evaluates bloodborne pathogen and infection control prevention plan annually and re-evaluates as necessary.
  • Assists communities with emergency repairs when necessary.
  • Assist in ensuring that the communities are following The Plaza's Safety Data Sheet (SDS) requirements - ensures SDS sheets are obtained for all chemicals used within the community and are easily accessible to all Plaza Team Members.
  • Works with the Executive Team to provide guidance and support to The Plaza communities as necessary, including the role of interim Director at the community.
  • Adheres to all employment requirements established in the Team Member Handbook, the Operating Policies and the Procedural Manuals.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by COO.

Required

  • Ten (10) years minimum experience in Environmental services and/or Building Maintenance (i.e. community/building) in a management role larger scale commercial properties.
  • Thorough and practical knowledge of commercial building engineering. Extensive experience maintaining large, complex commercial properties.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills. Having supervised departments with at least 25+ employees.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Capital project management experience of $2 million plus in scope.
  • Capital budget development experience with physical plant life cycle planning and analysis.
  • Preventative maintenance program development experience.
  • Housekeeping management experience on a larger scale property.
  • Compliance experience with safety regulations, environmental standards, and quality control procedures.
  • Quality improvement program implementation experience for quality improvement practices in maintenance and housekeeping.
  • A. or higher in engineering, facilities management, or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance practices, equipment, and building systems.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, be highly reliable, and consistently able to meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in using maintenance management software and common software tools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with associates, residents, and families.
  • Passion for delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Must have a valid State Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record per The Plaza's Driver's Policy.
  • 24/7 on-call status in the event of an emergency.
  • Current Tuberculosis Clearance, according to the State of Hawaii Department of Health.

Job Purpose: The Nurse Supervisor is responsible for assisting the Director of Nursing/Assistant Director of Nursing in overseeing the daily operations within the nursing department, supervision, training and support in nurse delegation duties, and assist in ensuring optimal care and services for the Residents.

The following are essential functions of the job:

  • Promotes and restores Residents' well-being by overseeing the nurse delegation program and the day-to-day nursing assessments that occur.
  • Ensures resident care is provided in a dignified and respectful manner.
  • Performs assessments for each resident, prior to admission, 30-days after admission, every six months thereafter, or as needed for any status change.
  • Provides assistance on functional assessments on all residents, including Fall Risk Assessment, Mini-Mental Assessment, Geriatric Depression Scale, and/or Elopement Assessment.
  • Notifies the Director of Nursing and Administrator, physician and family when significant changes in condition occur and takes appropriate action as directed.
  • Assists in emergency situations involving the residents.
  • Responsible for Incident Report writing, in a timely manner and followed-up with an appropriate investigation.
  • Ensures medications are ordered and received from pharmacy in a timely manner and handled in accordance with company policy.
  • Ensures appropriate contact with physicians occurs regarding written and verbal orders (this includes properly transcribing physicians' orders with accuracy and assuring follow-up as indicated) in accordance with regulations, standard nursing practice and established community policies and procedures.
  • Functions as a floor nurse, as needed, including the passing of any PRN medication.
  • Makes daily rounds to determine unit effectiveness and identifies needs and concerns.
  • Identifies and communicates trends on the care floor, assists the Director of Nursing and Administrator with a plan of action to follow through.
  • Makes recommendations regarding policies and procedures to maintain the care program in compliance with state and federal laws and regulations, while offering the best possible care to residents.
  • Responsible for ensuring care department sustains compliance with state and federal laws and community policies and procedures.
  • Completes forms and reports as requested by Director of Nursing or Administrator.
  • Collaborates efficiently with state inspectors regarding surveys and care complaints.
  • Assures residents service department, supplies, equipment and work areas are clean, neat and orderly and submits requests for supplies within departmental budgets.
  • Maintains good rapport with residents, families, visitors, and community members and resolves resident, family and community concerns promptly.
  • Performs other duties as directed by the Director of Nursing or/and the Administrator.

Supervisory

  • Oversees daily nurse delegation program for all floors responsible for.
  • Schedules nursing and resident care staff to ensure appropriate resident/staff ratio.
  • Enforces the attendance policies if needed, and replaces team members as needed.
  • Supervises care staff in the absence of the Director of Nursing and provides feedback concerning their performance on an ongoing basis.
  • Assures documentation of resident records by care staff is complete and accurate by conducting frequent audits.
  • Communicates regularly with care staff to provide information and address concerns.
  • Assists with providing new hire and ongoing training to resident care staff/care department and instructs personnel on use of equipment.

  • Current State of Hawaii Nursing License (LVN, RN), in good standing.
