03/23/2020 – The Plaza Coronavirus Precautions – Level 2 (1 or more confirmed cases of coronavirus in Hawaii)
The Plaza Assisted Living has always adhered to the highest health and safety standards to protect our residents, their families, our team members and vendor partners. Our six communities are prepared and trained in infection control as part of our standard operating procedures. Additionally, we have established new protocols to address issues surrounding the coronavirus outbreak.
We’re taking precautionary steps to protect our communities including the following:
All residents and essential visitors (those visiting under an end of life circumstance), vendor partners, and team members will be required to pass enhanced screening protocol.
Those who have participated in any travel, will not be allowed entry into a Plaza community for 14 days.
The individual must be symptom-free following the 14-day period
Those who exhibit flu-like symptoms won’t be permitted to visit or work until 24 hours after being symptom free.
Temperature checks will be conducted for all visitors, vendor partners and team members entering the community, as well as residents returning to a community.
Anyone with a temperature at 99 degrees or higher will be further assessed and or will not be allowed access.
All will be required to sanitize their hands upon entering a Plaza community.
Children ages 13 and younger will not be allowed to enter communities.
Residents, visitors, vendor partners and team members are being advised to follow the City & County of Honolulu’s Emergency Order No. 2020-02 & the Hawaii State’s Third Supplementary Proclamation for COVID-19 dated March 23, 2020, which orders all Oahu and Hawaii State residents respectively, to refrain from all non-essential travel and activity and to shelter in place until Thursday, April 30, 2020.
How you behave during a crisis shows your true character. We’ve been overwhelmed by the aloha we’ve received from our communities. Here are some of the stories of donations and support that are helping to keep our residents’ spirits up and show us all how to be #PlazaStrong.
Don't forget to visit Kahala Mall, near California Pizza Kitchen, now to September 20th!

First Stop ➡️ JAPAN!
Residents from the #ThePlazaatPunchbowl community enjoyed Armchair Travel to the fascinating country of Japan! 🇯🇵🍡
They started their trip with a few simple facts, took an online quiz to test their knowledge, watched part of a travel video exploring culture and types of transportation, and finished with a delicious mochi snack from Nisshodo Candy Store.
Residents were then given passports and will fill them out as we travel to different countries.
Window visits are very important to our residents, it is a great way to visit with family safely. Please call your community ahead of the visit to check with concierge for community visitation guidelines. MAHALO 🤙
MAHALO 🤙 to the Mililani Lions Club who came by our #ThePlazaMililani community to do outdoor arts and crafts activities with some of our Hali’a residents. Our residents made a collage of leaves, flowers, rocks, and pine cones. The setting was perfect with relaxing music and a nice breeze. The MLC consisted of college students who attend Leeward CC and UCLA.
About the Hali’a
The Hali’a memory care program focuses on getting to know its residents and honoring each person’s life story. At its core, this approach is based on the understanding that good dementia care begins with acknowledgment of a person’s life story. Your Best Friend will learn your story and use it to make your day, and your care, better.
In honor of National Banana Split day our residents at #ThePlazaPearlCity were treated to nostalgic banana splits with neapolitan ice cream, fresh banana, nilla wafers topped with whip cream, chocolate syrup and sprinkles! YUM! What at treat!?!
Chef Elden from #ThePlazaPunchbowl made an Eggplant 🍆 Pate yesterday with the eggplant that our Gardening Club grew.
Eggplant pate with toasted crostini was a HIT 💯 #ThePlazaHawaii #ThePlazaStyle #PlazaStrong...
The Plaza Assisted Living Mililani Community had a special visit from the Wahiawa Hongwanji Bon Dance Club. Residents enjoyed some Outdoor Bon Dancing entertainment and had a blast dancing to the tune of some of their favorite Bon Dance songs!
This was a beautiful gesture that was appreciated by all!
