Provides exceptional care for residents under the direction of the Director of Nursing Services and in accordance with facility policies and procedures and state regulations. Responsible for implementing and evaluating resident service/care plans to ensure resident needs are met. Responsible for coordinating and supervising care staff on shift in the absence of Director of Nursing Services. The Director of Nursing Services and Administrator are ultimately responsible for all final hiring and termination decisions. The employee is expected to perform within the scope of his/her license. Reports directly to the Director of Nursing Services regarding nursing or health care issues (reports directly to Administrator if Director of Nursing Services is on vacation or other leave).
Responsible for providing direct resident care including daily bathing, dressing, personal hygiene assistance and medication reminding to residents in accordance with Resident Service Plans and as directed by Director of Nursing Services and nursing staff. Take and document resident vital signs as per Resident Service Plan. Assist residents to get ready for appointments. Reports concerns regarding resident to Director of Nursing Services, Administrator (or LPN on shift in absence of Director of Nursing Services and Administrator). Provides appropriate documentation regarding resident in accordance with policies and procedures and DSHS regulations.
Responsible for implementing resident recreational/activity programs in coordination with and as directed by Activities Director including driving activities bus. Such programs must be designed to meet the interests and physical, mental, and psychological well-being of each resident and may be implemented in a group or individual setting
Responsible for assisting Administrator and ensuring that the front desk and all functions relating to the front desk run smoothly. Functions include answering phones with proper greeting, appropriately routing calls and taking messages. Assist residents with questions and assist with reservations for guest meals and use of guest dining room. Assist visitors to sign in and out and appropriately direct them where to go. Appropriately use fax and computer. Assist with paperwork and filing Ability to plan, implement and problem solve areas of responsibility in coordination with the Administrator is crucial to the success of the facility.
Responsible for maintaining appropriate cleanliness and sanitation of facility and resident apartments and appropriate laundering of resident linens and clothing. Reports concerns regarding residents to Administrator or Director of Nursing. Complies with policies and procedures and state regulatory requirements regarding appropriate housekeeping guidelines.
Responsible for preparing and serving regular and modified diets to residents in accordance with Hawaii Administrative Rules, Department of Health, Title 11, Chapter 12, Food Establishment Sanitation and Hawaii Administrative Rules, Department of Health, Title 11, Chapter 90, Assisted Living Facility.
Provides assistance in all dining services functions under the supervision of Food Services Director in accordance with facility policies and procedures and federal, state and local guidelines. Performs dishwashing and cleaning duties. May assist with food preparation and serving duties as directed by Food Services Director or Cook.
Responsible for assisting the Director of Nursing and Administrator in the operations of the resident care department. Assists with training and orienting of new resident care staff. In times of need works on the floor as a Charge Nurse or Resident Care Aide. Assists and at times conducts regular on-going care staff meetings and in-services. As directed, assigns and delegates responsibilities to resident care staff for residents, based on the qualifications of the staff and needs of the residents. Ensures each resident receives services/care as per Resident Service Plan and in accordance with federal and state regulations and facility policies and procedures. Helps to facilitate communication within the department as well as with other departments and Administration. In the absences of the Director of Nursing, will assure prompt, appropriate action in cases of injury, illness, fire or other emergencies. In the absence of the Director of Nursing performs assessment in coordination with Administrator and marketing staff members on each resident prior to admission to determine if prospective resident’s care needs can be appropriately met by the facility. Communicates with Director of Nursing and Administrator about change is residents’ condition. Participates in resident service plan care conferences. Ultimately responsible for ensuring care department compliance with state and federal laws and facility policies and procedures in the absences of the Director of Nursing.
